Himatnagar

Himmatnagar is a city in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat State in India. It is the administrative headquarters of the district.The name literally means the "Town of Courage".


King Himmat Singh


The city was named after the King Himmat Singh. There are two palaces in the town of the King Himmat Singh, Fort of Maharaja Himmatsinh on the banks of the river Hathmati and Dolat Vilas Palace.


Horse Training Centre

It is also famous for Pologround which hosts Asia's best Horse Training Centre, as well as it is a Historical City of North Gujarat where King Himmatsinh's Palace is located.


Geography

Hathmati is the river that flows through the city. Himatnagar is approx 78 kkm away from Ahmedabad which is financial capital of Gujarat State. Motipura, Mehtapura, Mahavirnagar, Pologround are major areas of the city.


Culture

Having accommodated many families from Rajasthan as a part of the local population since ages, Himatnagar is also known for its unique taste of Dal-bati.


Medical Facilities

The agglomeration of medical professionals and services close to the central bus station is famous as “Arogya Nagar” which is one of the major medical facilities of Himatnagar.


Sabar Dairy

On the outskirts of Himatnagar lies the cooperative dairy factory Sabar Dairy which produces srikhand, yogurt, paneer, butter, buttermilk along with other dairy based products for Amul. The suppliers include local dairy farmers from Himatnagar and surrounding villages.
